Having something small you cherish and wanting for it to grow steadily, you have to put in some effort. I’ve always loved stationery and I can spend hours looking at notebooks and the pens or pencils sections, I want to have all of it! I realized that I’d actually want my own line of stationery, something great, pretty, useful and just plain cool. This is why I started the Tinte Ink Etsy shop for custom cover notebooks, journals and sketchbooks.
Since I’ve opened the notebook shop, I’ve tried some pretty looking drawing methods, one of which being silver and gold markers on dark surfaces. Artists know how dark backgrounds can be a headache to work on, as the pencil sketch might not be visible, using a white pencil might lead to marks that won’t go away. As I make custom covers for notebooks, I really want to offer some awesome looking light on dark styles.
Being an artist is something that you choose, because it’s what you want to do, not what you have to do. While going through the phases of determining if you consider yourself an artist or if this is just a hobby, you feel like having a sense of individuality and style is the first thing you need. You want to be recognized for this thing that you do. Either your drawing style, your colour choices or anything else that is consistent throughout your work. But that is the very wrong way of beginning your journey as a creative.
